We take the most advanced technology, the kind closest to your privacy, and make it into open-source products you can understand, change and truly own.
The closer technology is to you, the more it should belong to you.
Your brain, your conversations, your home should not be someone else’s data.
Every piece of technology should be understandable by its owner.
To us, open source is more than a licence. It is a way of treating technology: giving everyone who uses it back the right to understand it, change it and own it.
The circuit design is public, the acquisition code is readable and the data protocol is open. Every layer is documented; no black boxes.
Modify it, rebuild it, take it places we never imagined. Open source is there for you to use, change and surpass.
The closer technology gets to you, the more it must respect your boundaries. No required account, no default upload: your data stays on your own devices.
What we sell you is exactly what we publish: the same board, the same code. The released revision is printed on the product so you can check it yourself.
Trust comes from openness, not promises. Use it offline, read the code yourself; anyone can review it.
Buy it complete, buy the parts and assemble it, or build it from the drawings. Whichever path you take, you end up with the same device.
Brain signals are the most private data a person has. If even they can be fully open and fully yours, so can your phone, your computer and every device in your home.
So Open Civilization’s first product starts with you: OpenCiv BCI-001, a 16-channel open-source brain-computer interface. A new story of people and technology begins with this one device.
“Open source” is the method, “civilization” is the goal: making frontier technology a shared good that everyone can understand, take part in and own.

At the centre of the emblem is a planet wearing an infinity sign, with a rocket overhead; the ring reads “开源文明”, “让开源超过闭源” and the website address. The wordmark “开源文明” is cut at a forward slant, like technology that keeps moving ahead.
We don’t build dependence; we give the choice back to you. Use it, change it or walk away: it is your decision.
Our products get no decorative names, just category plus number, such as BCI-001. Hardware revisions are marked Rev.A, Rev.B and match the published drawings one to one.
Deep-space black is territory not yet explored; signal green is the first signal that comes from you. Our interface, products and campaigns use only these colours.
Starting with the most private data, we turn the technology around you into open-source products, one at a time. Numbers follow release order.
A 16-channel open-source BCI. Guarding your brain signals.
The model runs in your home. Guarding your conversations, documents and memories.
Every layer understandable, from motherboard to OS. Guarding your files, location and face.
Locks, lights, cameras and the robot in your home answer only to you.
Open Civilization is run by 开源文明科技(北京)有限公司 in Beijing. Our hardware drawings are published on Orecord and our software on GitHub.
